Second Last Day of Work

Hey all. Pretty uneventful day today, except for the fact that it's my second last day of work at my internship. The last two months haven't exactly been the most productive of times but at least, I got to meet a ton of new friends, which was really awesome.

Had a last minute change of plans and went to grab dinner with Sharnon at 鼎泰丰. Okay food I guess. Needless to say, the meal was followed up with a trip to Starbucks, where I had my Grande Latte as usual. Nice to just sit down and chat for a little while with a friend. =)

Last day of work tomorrow. Anyone up for post-internship drinks / celebratory meal? Friends nowadays fall generally into the following categories: 1) busy, 2) attached, 3) neither but can't be dated. Thanks to the rare few who make time to meet up for a meal or to spend the day out. Appreciate it a ton.

Anyways, wish me luck. Gonna just go and do the presentation on-the-fly tomorrow. Hahaha... real-life experiment to see how I will perform when I try to wing a presentation. Will let you guys know how it went.

Night everyone.

Intern Dinner (Again!)

A pretty long and draggy day, with lots of calls and tough decisions to make. Feel alot more tired than I usually am.

To kick start the day, I went to the airport late last night to pick up my dad at 12:30am or so. When I got there, the screen flashed "RE-TIME" and they changed the landing time to 2:15am. My jaw dropped. In any case, I decided to stay on and wait for my dad, since the alternatives were 1) for my dad to take a cab home (which I didn't want) 2) go home and let my mom pick my dad up at 2:15am herself (hell no?)

Ended up getting home at 3 plus in the morning. Work was a painful time today but the most draining part was constantly thinking about what I really wanted, and also dealing with the "fall-out" of sorts, from the decisions I had made earlier.

Dinner, was a thankfully enjoyable event at PS Cafe in Dempsey Road. The restaurants inside are really nice, with the beautiful wooded area and the cosy deco. Food there was not too fantastic; almost bordering on crappy for the price which they expected their customers to pay. But I guess, at the end of the day, it's the company that matters. Had a nice, lively converstation with the group of people sitting at my end of the table, and that was a really welcome hiatus from the crazy day. Many thanks to Sharnon for organizing the dinner!

A little tired with everything that has been piling into my life. I need a sanity check, but nowadays, it seems like the sky is the limit. Anyone? Stop me?

20 August

Hey, I just got my offer today! For those of you who know me, yes, it's for the place where I really wanted to work at! Really over-joyed when I got the call this evening. Called my dad, mom and then grandma, and shared the news with my closest friends.

It's going to be a tough call to make. I guess, there are countless reasons to sway me both sides; I'm totally torn between the two choices. Guess I'll just have to think this through by myself. Someone to talk to would be nice...

Coincidentally, this call bearing my job offer came on the 20 August. I guess, it's just a day which brings happy news. Would gladly relinquish all of this in a heartbeat just...

Feeling both glad and reminiscent at the moment. I'm heading to the airport to pick my dad up later. Have a good night everyone.

Dar, I did it.

Taking a Step to the Side

Took almost a day off from my usual life. Sort of. Met up with a friend and went for lunch at Marina Square. We went to watch License to Wed, which was surprisingly funny. I finally bought my sis her overly-belated birthday present, a nice bag from Rip Curl. =)

Hung out at Pacific Coffee Company for a couple of hours. It has been a really long time since I last spent so much time there. Anyways, had dinner at Taste Paradise, which never fails with their excellent food.

All in all, I guess I needed this brief side step out of my life to think things through. Made me realize lots of stuff too. Thanks for the company gal.

A Quiet Night

It's the weekend once again. A little painful because I have some work which I need to finish up by Monday but haven't ploughed through it yet.

In any case, just got home a little while ago. Somehow, this felt like a really quiet night. Earlier today, I went to SICC with my whole family and went to expend a little energy on the golf balls. At least my swing / shots were significanty better than last week's. I had dinner with my family and then headed out for supper at Laguna. I hope I was just imagining things. Somehow...

Anyways, was going to drive off to Butter Factory for the JetSet pre-departure bash for US-bound students but changed my mind just before I exited the carpark. Wasn't in the mood to go party and do ridiculous stuff. Turned around and went to the quiet beach bar at ECP to get a drink. Just the sound of the waves crashing onto the beach, the gentle sea breeze, and me. Sat there and watched couples, young and old, walking down the beach hand-in-hand. Could feel the bliss and happiness coming from them.

Been in a pretty reflective / contemplative mood lately. A little tired...

National Day 2007

Happy birthday Singapore!

I went for the National Day Parade, held for the first time at Marina Bay this year. Pretty awesome event though the mass displays were kinda pointless. Nonetheless, great fireworks, total defence display and of course, the pride of seeing the red berets as the guard-of-honor.

Had a vastly different national day this year compared to 2006. Can't say today was exactly a fun day to pass, but... oh well...

Anyways, have a great night everyone and once again, Happy Birthday to the place I call home - Singapore.

Heading out.
