Happy Birthday Mom!

Been having lots of dreams lately, can't really recall the exact details except for little bits and pieces of them. Same thing happened this morning, except that I could remember pretty clearly what happened in my dream. My alarm clock woke me up and groggy me thought that it was Chinese New Year morning. I was going to pick up my phone and call in to text my new year greetings before I stalled. Looked around and realized it was Monday morning, the world outside is covered in snow, and I'm sitting on my bed in Michigan. It's 2007, it's the year of the pig, it's Monday. School day. Heart sank and I got myself ready for class...

Another typical school day and got my OMS 311 exam back. Did decent, could have kicked ass big time if not for my ridiculous careless mistakes such as mistaking pluses and minuses or punching numbers into my calculator incorrectly. Argh. How typical of me. The rest of the day was just spent studying for my OMS 301 exam tomorrow.

The most important event of today: My mom's birthday!!! To the most amazing mother in the world, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Called in early this morning (Singapore time) to send in my best wishes.

That reminds me, I took a short nap in the evening because I was so exhausted. Had another dream which I oddly remembered too. A beautiful dream, with all of us celebrating my mom's birthday together; sitting side by side while we joked and laughed with all my little cousins (who are not so little anymore). Dreams... just like how things turned out in real life eh? All but an empty dream. -bitter laugh-

Oh well, once again, I hope all of you are enjoying your holiday (for those in Singapore) and for my pals in Michigan, enjoy the freaking exams and the damn good weather, its now -5 degree celsius only!). Midterms are so much fun eh? Haha... Enjoy your mugging guys. Don't forget to burn your books, mix them with water and drink them. Internalize they say.

To my family, have fun at my mom's birthday dinner! Pity my brother and I aren't in Singapore. Please have a great celebration with my mom on our behalf ya? Thanks dad for organizing the dinner for mom while we're not in Singapore. Speaking of which, my cousins went for mid-night movies two days in a row! Aww man... and prata at Jalan Kayu yesterday night after the show too. I'm sure my bro also wishes he can be back in Singapore just as much as I do. Damn I miss hanging out with my cousins. It's amazing when we head out in a huge bunch (I'm the oldest there) and we have kids who range all the way from my age to primary school. Cool eh?

Alright, time to do more probability and whatnot. 4 more days to California!

The Lunar New Year

It's the Lunar New Year. Before I get into my rant, I would like to extend my best wishes to everyone for the coming new year.

Went for dinner last night with a bunch of pals at Kai Garden. Awesome Chinese food. The rest of the night isn't particularly interesting. Somewhere along the lines of Tiger, crunching numbers and attacking my books.

I spent my entire New Year's Day crashing critical paths for my OMS 311 case. I've had enough of Toys City. Any more CPMs will definitely drive me nuts.

My New Year's morning was pretty decent. A little different without the well wishes... but oh well, I got to see all my cousins, my grandma and my uncles on msn when they were at my house. Really miss the Chinese New Year gatherings which have become an annual occasion to look forward to on the night of New Year's Day. All my cousins (22 of us in total!), my grandma, my parents, my uncles and aunts gathered together in my home. It's always such a blast... Not to mention the lou hei; I can picture my uncle "lecturing" the kids on the techniques of "lou hei-ing". Haha...

On the other hand, had a really pleasant surprise when I spoke with one of the kids whom I haven't contacted for a long time. Dar? I know you must be smiling after hearing what he had said right? He's finally starting to grow up... =) Morning was spoilt a little when I chanced upon some stuff. -shrugs-

Anyway, I went for a climb in the afternoon after my brain was totally saturated with critical path models. The rock wall was surprising empty today. After taking a short break from climbing for 1 day, my hands feel alot better and I'm able to climb way better than on Friday. It was a good workout.

Well, I guess I'll head back to my books. To my dearest family, my very best wishes for the new year. May all of you be blessed with good health and happiness, always. Be happy and stay wonderful. I'm not celebrating new year this year but still, for everyone else who is, have a safe and happy new year.

Warmest wishes,
Wilson

A Little...

Went over to Birch Run factory outlet for a good half of the day to grab my outdoor gear and boots (less than 40 bucks for North Face ones!). Delayed buying a lot of these stuff such as fleece jackets which I have been needing badly for the past one and half year, boots, socks, beanies, etc.

Decided to hit the rock wall again and climbed for a good 2 hours. Hands are pretty maxed out right now. Went for dinner with my roomie at Red Lobster. Best biscuits (American bisuits, not Khong Guan biscuits) in the world.

Anyways, to get back to the title, just feeling...

A little tired...
A little dazed...
A little down...

Missing you a little...
Just a little more... every day... in every way.

A little, it's just a little...

新年前夕,家家户户都开开心心的在准备过年,吃团圆饭, 与家人和对自己最重要的人聚在一起。好幸福。 又是新的一年了。。。

The Edge

Almost pulled another all nighter yesterday. Got about 1 hour of sleep. Exam today was pretty decent. Maybe a tad too easy, the grade dispersion is going to be too small. I hope I didn't make any careless mistakes in my calculations just now.

Anyways, classes after meetings after classes. Topped the day with a pre-trip meeting at IM building rock wall. Exhausted but no chance in hell I would have given up the chance to climb for the half hour. Good workout. Needless to say, I have jelly fingers, hands and legs now.

It's another hectic weekend ahead. Tons of work to do (what's new huh) and more exams to nail next week. No, I'm not trying to drown myself with work. Work is trying to drown me whether I like it or not.

Whatever it is... It's 89 today. *smiles* I'm so tired, you know? Dreams...

It's been a hectic week and the craziness is far from over. With the severe weather warning plastered all over weather.com (6 to 10 inches of snow by tomorrow morning, 30 to 40 km/h winds and -15 degree celcius), the world outside is quite a hell on earth.

Anyways, its February 14th today. Valentine's day or friendship day, whichever suits you. The first time in 7 years that I don't get the bubbly "Happy Valentine's Day!" call/msg. Don't think there is a need to say more about it. If you happen to be one of the people who understand, that's awesome. Else, well, I don't really give a flying... *ahem* censored.

More exams to come. I'll have a romantic date with my Finance 310 text and notes in the lovely freaking Kresge Library (or maybe in the comfort of my apartment given the kick-ass weather). Not to mention the 2 long homeworks due tomorrow, project proposals due, meetings to attend, job applications to pursue...

Alright, I'm done with venting. Just needed to blow off some of the stress from school. Now for the real stuff. It's valentine's day. To my dearest angel, you still hold your special spot in my heart. -hugs- I miss you dar. To my dearest friends, thank you for all that you have done for me. To those who have believed in me and still do, I really thank you from the bottom of my heart. Special thanks to my parents, grandparents, siblings and extended family for always being there for me. My heartfelt thanks to my dearest grandma and my late grandpa for doting on me ever since I was a kid.

What is love? I don't know how to describe it. Maybe its like this...

1 Corinthians 13
Love

1If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Or maybe love is less profound; something as simple as you and me. Us. The feeling that your heart races when you think of someone, the feeling that you wish to hold the other person's hand and nothing would need to be said but everything is crystal clear. Maybe it's an illusion, maybe it's real. Perhaps it's like how Julia Roberts described her feelings in Notting Hill, "I'm just a girl, standing in front of a guy, asking him to love her." Love can be like fireworks firing away in your heart, dazzling, fascinating, short-lived. Or maybe its be like the Northern Star; always bright, always there, never wavering.

So, maybe the question is not what is love, but what it is to you. Whatever the case, I sincerely wish, from the bottom of my heart, that you will find it somewhere, somehow; hopefully, that is the true love of your life.

More than anything else, I miss you. Every smile, every laughter, ever tear.

Thank you and Happy Valentine's Day.

Best wishes,
Wilson

And the World Comes Crashing Down

Hey all,

How're things going? It's been a long time since I last blogged. The world has pretty much been crashing down on me day in day out and I've barely had time to sleep or do things which I want to do, much less blog. Woke up bright and early today to write a 300 word paper for MO300 (jeeze can you believe it, I actually wrote the thing in less than 10 minutes and it looks pretty darn good). I know my family and some of my friends who still continue to read my blog have been wondering where/how I was.

Anyways, in short, I was in New York City last Friday. It's the most kick-ass city in the world! Times Square, Madison Square Garden, 6th Avenue, the cranky New York subway, the towers which block out all the sunlight (urban jungle!)... just awesome! If you haven't gotten a link to Kodak Galleries where I have posted some of the photos I took in NYC, drop me an email, I'll be glad to send a link to you. In the meanwhile, some highlights from NYC...

Chicago was up on Monday. Drove to the airport in the freaking cold. By the way, temperatures are now sub-zero. Wait, I meant sub-zero FAHRENHEIT. Thats a cool minus 30 degree celcius with moderate wind chill. I swear the Antartica just moved to the Mid-west. Anyways, froze my ass off walking from the subway station to the place I was interviewing with. Great view from the interviewing suite. Didn't really take photos in Chicago because I couldn't take my hands out of my gloves/pockets. It gets so cold you can't feel your eyes, ears, nose, toes, fingers, everything. No joke I can tell you. Saw a very spectacular sunset and the beautiful cities lit up at night while flying back from Chicago.

Haven't gotten a job offer. Really disappointed. Sigh... Anyways, time for class. Midterms coming up, homeworks assignments crashing down on me as usual. Needless to say, chalking up a nice big sleep debt as always.

You're always on my mind...

Peace, out.

Hell Week(s) Begin

I'm headed for New York City in a few hours time. The financial centre of the world. Really hope that I will be able to land the job after tomorrow's interview so that I can concentrate on my work again. The next 3 weeks are going to be pure fun. I'm going to get so shelled from homework assignments / midterms / group projects / job hunts / preparation for the spring break trip. Grim 3 weeks ahead huh.

Wish me luck. I'm damn sick of being disappointed after doing so much preparations for all of these. Give me the job!

It's been a busy / bullish semester. Time just flies by and everyone, myself included, is trying to find time to catch our breaths amongst all these madness. Okay, I don't know what I'm ranting about. I miss you.
